Custom collected from Roderick MacNeil, aged 88, crofter, Miùghlaigh/Mingulay about a blessing stone on Bernara an Easpuig [Beàrnaraigh/Berneray] that it was in a stone font in the graveyard and that people who were afraid would go and stroke it. There is also a note about the bishop's house that it 'was up till late and the stone upon which he rested his book while read[ing] is there still.' Story probably collected from Roderick MacNeil, aged 88, crofter, Miùghlaigh/Mingulay which tells how MacLean of Duart's daughter was married to MacNeil of Barra that they did not get on together. They travelled to see her father in Am Muile/Isle of Mull but on their return she asked to stop in the Sound of Mull/An Caol Muileach to collect some dulse. Described as 'notorious', the story states how Scott and his soldiers who carried themselves 'most ferociously' hanged a big, strong man named Iain mac Fhearchair ic Mhurachaidh ic Neill with out a trial or a judge. The story tells how the soldiers 'amused them[selves] by flaying the cattle of the people alive and allowing them to run mad about the island.' One man wisely...

In the story the King of Spain's daughter has a dream about MacLean of Duart and so decides to go and find him. On arriving in Duart, Am Muile/Isle of Mull she meets him and asks him to go to Spain with her. To get rid of her he blows up the boat and then decides to get rid of his wife as well.
